Coaches Profiles

All our coaches are trained to the highest standard and are certified by the British Judo Association. They have all passed the DBS checks, have Safeguarding and Child Protection certification and are qualified First Aiders. The coaches are friendly, welcoming and eager to share their sport with others. With a variety of training backgrounds, they offer a wide variety of knowledge, experience and technical abilities. They have competed at local, national and international levels, with a number of Welsh and British titles amongst them. With over a hundred years’ experience between them there is much to be learned!!!

Louise Beard
Grade: 3rd Dan
Coaching Qualification: Level 2
Coaching Experience: Since 2000
Coaching Strength: Patience!!!
How long have you been doing judo? 38 years
Best Achievement: First place in the British Schools Trials.
Why? I was selected to represent Great Britain in the World Schools Championships in France.
Favourite Technique: Maki-komi
Why? It is powerful and impressive when performed correctly.
Best Tip: Always treat people the way you would like to be treated.   Being a good uke is essential in judo!

Grade: 1st Dan

Coaching Experience: Since 2010
Coaching Strength: Motivation
How long have you been doing judo? 32 years
Best Achievement: Becoming Welsh Champion.
Why? I then got to represent Wales.
Favourite Technique: Morote-seoi-nage (drop)
Why? Because it works.
Best Tip: Train the mind!

Grade: 2nd Dan

Coaching Experience: Since 2014
Coaching Strength: Experience in competitive judo that I can share with the players.
How long have you been doing judo? 32 years
Best Achievement: RLC (Royal Logistics Core, Army) Sports Woman of the Year 2014.
Why? I was recognised for my efforts in sport by the army.
Favourite Technique: Tani otoshi
Why? I’m good at it!
Best Tip: Listen to advice.
